Charlotte Cowdery

Volunteer Coordinator

Pronouns: she/her

Charlotte coordinates group volunteers along the 72 miles of the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area, from Coon Rapids to Spring Lake Park. A geology graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College, she taught English in Japan before building a career in natural resources with the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, the National Park Service, and the Minnesota Historical Society. At MPC, she is passionate about connecting diverse communities to the outdoors, believing that urban forests and parks are a special kind of enchantment. “The best part of my job is showcasing land improvement projects and celebrating the many new volunteers who help the river corridor thrive.”

Interests

Charlotte loves a good local festival or event! Growing up attending the Powderhorn May Day Parade sparked her passion for gatherings that bring people together. From skiing the Birkebeiner to dressing up for the Renaissance Festival, she jumps right in. When she’s not at an event, you’ll find her camping, hiking, biking, paddling, or discovering new trails, coffee shops, and restaurants.
