During the government shutdown, our national park—and the people who care for it—felt the effects. Even with the government reopened, future shutdowns and temporary funding fixes continue to create uncertainty for our national parks. This event is a chance to come together, reflect on what the national park means to each of us, and let decision-makers know how these places touch our lives.
Stop by our table at REI Roseville to write a postcard about your favorite park experience or how you and your connection to this park were impacted by the shutdown. Join us to let your legislators know how important these places are to you and your community. We’ll provide everything you need—postcards, pens, and mailing addresses for your legislators. You need only bring your stories and your passion for parks.
What to expect:
Drop in anytime between 10am and 4pm
Write a postcard (or a few) to your representatives sharing your thoughts or park memories.
Learn more about how communities are connecting to the park and how National Park Service staff are restarting their important work in the aftermath of the government shutdown.
Together, we can remind leaders and neighbors alike that our national parks are an essential part of our shared well-being—places of inspiration, recreation, and renewal.
Come write, share, and celebrate our national park.
