New GreenCorps Member!
Angela LaCroix, Urban Forestry GreenCorps Member, Mississippi Park Connection Hello Everyone!
My name is Angela LaCroix and I am the new Urban Forestry GreenCorps member here at Mississippi Park Connection! I am very excited to be hosted at MPC for the next 11 months and to work on different forestry projects that benefit our national park.
I am originally from Eagan, MN. I grew up in a family that loved to get outdoors to go camping, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, or up to the cabin for a good fishing weekend. My love of nature lead me to get my Bachelor’s in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology from the University of North Dakota. After graduating, I decided to join the MN GreenCorps Program where I worked on Urban Forestry down in Wabasha County this past year. Now, I am serving a second term with MN GreenCorps and I was fortunate to be placed here at Mississippi Park Connection!
For my next year here at Mississippi Park Connection, I will be helping with design and implementation of gravel bed systems at multiple locations with partners such as Urban Roots and the Raptor Center. I will also be working with park partners and addressing different forestry needs within the Mississippi corridor. Other jobs include tree plantings and maintenance, research on southern tree adaptability, and research on wildlife interactions with potential southern tree species. I have learned so much about the Mississippi River and Recreation Area just in my first two weeks, so I cannot wait to see what the rest of this service term has in store!
Minnesota GreenCorps is an AmeriCorps program, hosted by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.
