Tano Yonekawa

Stewardship Coordinator

As Stewarship Coordinator, Tano supports habitat restoration projects along the Mississippi River. In this role, they are responsible for volunteer coordination for the Adaptive Siliviculture for Climate Change project. They work within the stewardship team to connect and create a community around the River through educational events, such as plant and tree identification. Through this work, Tano aspires to make the River and the outdoors a more equitable and accessible space for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals.

Tano brings a background in environmental science and sustainable agriculture from the University of Minnesota. Before MPC, they worked on community-run farms around the Twin Cities. They first joined the team as a Community Forestry Americorps member and were hired full-time after completing their term.

Interests

Tano loves learning self suffiency skills. You can find them foraging, gardening or attempting to fish. When not outside, they love watching a good rom com or horror movie.
