Marielle Mateo

Forestry Program Coordinator

Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

Marielle coordinates tree plantings, manages MPC’s gravel beds, and conducts tree planting survival surveys.

She graduated from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities with a B.S. in Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology in 2019. She’s worked a variety of positions from being a gardener and naturalist at Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden, to reducing food waste as a GreenCorps member with Hennepin County, to conducting wildlife surveys and habitat restoration in Tahoe National Forest, California. Across her positions, she’s enjoyed connecting to her surroundings in new ways and sharing that connection with others.

She is most excited to work with the MPC team to improve and restore forest habitats across the Mississippi River, build resilience against climate change, and benefit local communities and wildlife.

Interests

Outside of work, Marielle enjoy staying active, dancing, hiking, and exploring the Twin Cities. Catch me out and about enjoying a new restaurant, brewery, or a bubble tea shop. In my down time, I also love journaling, reading, and drawing.
