Scrub the Lock

  • Bohemian Flats Park 2150 West River Parkway Minneapolis, MN, 55454 United States (map)

Join us for an opportunity to paddle through the “unseen” parts of the Mississippi River and help clean up one of its most critical urban sections. This unique event blends adventure, conservation, and history, don’t miss your chance!

In honor of National Mississippi River Day, we’ll access the Lower St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam by kayak—an area that captures trash and debris from downtown Minneapolis, the University of Minnesota, and nearby bridges. During the event, you’ll experience locking through the lower Saint Anthony Lock and then work together to remove trash waste that has built up here. Protect the river while exploring this stretch that is rarely seen from land.

We have 8 seats available in kayaks at the Bohemian Flats Paddle Share station. Kayaks will be provided, but kayak self-sufficiency is necessary.

We also have space for 6 additional seats if you have your own kayak or canoe and would like to join us! If you are bringing your own boat with multiple seats (a canoe or a tandem kayak, for example) please register each individual paddler separately.
