For nearly 30 years, Big River Journey has been the flagship field trip of the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area, bringing more than 2,000 local students onto the river each year to learn, explore, and connect with the Mighty Mississippi. Since 1996, this award-winning program has sparked curiosity and stewardship in thousands of children.
Now, for the first time, the journey is open to all ages. Welcome to the Bigger River Journey.
Join us for the inaugural year of this incredible experience—designed for a wider and more grown-up audience. Step aboard an authentic paddleboat, re-live the awe and wonder of the Mississippi through a child’s eyes, and discover the river in a whole new way.
The evening will feature ranger talks, engaging learning stations, trivia, and of course, the breathtaking sights of the river—just like students experience on Big River Journey. And since you’re an adult, you’ll also enjoy a delicious meal and bar offerings on board.
Proceeds from the event will help fund Mississippi National River and Recreation Area programs, ensuring that more people of all ages can connect with and care for the Mississippi River.
