Working River Online
This program engages students with four topics deeply associated with the upper Mississippi River: its geology, its role as a transportation corridor, its waterpower, and continual stewardship efforts. It’s a flexible site with a non-prescriptive model where students are inspired to explore and begin at multiple starting points. Students are also encouraged to participate in a Persuasive Writing activity about stewardship of the river.
Teachers can supplement each topic with their own lesson plans, using the program to enhance their curriculum designs however they see fit. A robust resource section also supports teachers in adding further content to their lesson plans.
