Winter River
Winter River is a cold weather educational field trip designed for Fourth Graders and Title I schools with the goal of creating emotional and positive connections to our national parks and public lands.
This activity-based program plays on the themes of adaptation and habitats! Students learn about adapting to colder weather, view animal tracks, showcase winter tree identification skills, experience snowshoeing, and more! Our unique location affords students a chance to not only embrace the outdoors but also to experience a fire in a cozy shelter! Students will experience fun ways to learn about their natural surroundings. The program is led by national park rangers, Wilderness Inquiry staff, an experienced River Educator team, and helpful volunteers.
