Become a River Learning Center Advocate
Mississippi Park Connection supports the creation of a River Learning Center along the Mississippi River in Saint Paul. This is a city-owned project that will become the home to the National Park Service’s Mississippi National River and Recreation Area headquarters and offer year-round programming. It will also provide river-oriented experiences focused on the land, water and culture of the river as well as enhance public connections to the river – a resource we need now more than ever.
In partnership with the Great River Passage Conservancy and The City of Saint Paul, we are advocating for $3 million in state bonding money to complete the full design and site evaluation and preparation. We need your help telling your legislators that you support this project.

EMAIL COPY: Dear Senator <<Insert Senator’s last name here>>:
My name is <<insert>>, and I live at <<insert address>>. Thank you for your work to provide COVID-19 relief during this challenging time. As the Senate transitions to considering a bonding proposal yet this session, I am writing to ask you to support funding for the River Learning Center (SF 1626) in the 2020 Senate Bonding Bill. The River Learning Center would serve not only as a key access point to the Mississippi River for the public but as the National Park Service’s Mississippi National River and Recreation Area headquarters.
Now, more than ever, we are seeing the impact of parks on well-being and mental health. The River Learning Center will connect children and families from across the region to life-changing education and recreation experiences on the Mississippi River. Funding this project will create future economic benefits for the region and the entire state.
<<Add your personal message here: e.g., why I love the river, why I’m a member of an organization that supports the river, etc.>>
