#FindYourPark: Crosby Farm Regional Park

Crosby Farm Regional Park taken during the morning with the sun rising and lots of the lush green on the vegetation.

The location and geography of Crosby Farm Regional Park makes a walk through it’s floodplain forests, marshy wetlands and tranquil lakes feel like stepping into a magical wonderland. Nestled at the confluence of the Mississippi and Minnesota rivers, just under the bluffs of the Mississippi River, this gem is hidden in plain sight in the heart of a major metropolitan area.

The park’s biodiversity of more than 530 acres coupled with seasonal transformations make it a delight to visit yearound. Oak forest shades much of the nearly 7 miles of paved trails that meander through the park, connecting the marshy shoreline of two small lakes to the sandy floodplain forests extending in to the Mississippi River. Crosby is part of the river’s migratory bird flyway, making it a dreamy location for birds and birders alike in the spring and fall.

When you visit, look for white tree tubes that are either helping cottonwoods grow or are part of our research plots. The health of Crosby Park’s tree canopy is a major contributing factor to flooding mitigation, soil health, water quality, and fish and wildlife survival.
