Mni Owe Sni / Coldwater Spring Designated as a Traditional Cultural Place

Some places act as more than reminders of the past. Instead, they bind a community to its historically rooted culture and connect to a community's living traditions. Mni Owe Sni / Coldwater Spring is one such special place.

Now, its unique significance is officially recognized by the federal government. As of November 3, Mni Owe Sni / Coldwater Spring is listed as a Traditional Cultural Place because of its historical significance and its continuing cultural relevance to the Dakota people.

Congratulations to the Lower Sioux Indian Community, the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community, the Upper Sioux Community, and the Prairie Island Indian Community and everyone who worked towards this recognition and to all who care about this place.
