Thank you to the 2022 MISSISSIPPI RIVER CREW!

Jessica Herbrand, Jen Isham, Eric Anderson, Duke Iverson

Thank you to our 2022 Conservation Corps of Minnesota & Iowa (CCMI) members for their outstanding efforts and hard work! For the past year, these four young adults worked in a team setting on forest restoration and resilience along the 72-mile stretch of the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area.

In addition to this, they also led groups of Youth Outdoors high school students who are exploring natural resources careers. The high school groups included sophomores and juniors in high school who, while in school full-time, gathered on Saturday mornings and on early weekday afternoons throughout the spring and fall to remove introduced species like buckthorn and maintain community tree nurseries and the climate change research plots at Crosby Farm Regional Parks. They also planted trees and native prairie plants, learned safety skills and first aid, built resumes, and so much more!

We appreciate you so much and look forward to seeing what you accomplish in the next steps of your careers!

Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa is a program where youth and young adults grow as environmental stewards and leaders while giving back to the community through meaningful service.

Youth Outdoors is a program that supports career explorations for students who are 15-18 years old who have an interest in environmental restoration. There are two 11-week terms each year typically mid-March through May and September through mid-November. During the terms, a 4-member young adult crew will work alongside them by supervising, educating, and making an impact to support their budding environmental careers.
