River Days Of Action 2023: Become a River Citizen

At Mississippi Park Connection, we believe that through partnership, we make a difference. That’s why we are proud to be one of 50+ organizations that make up the Mississippi River Network. Together, we are a diverse coalition working to protect the land, water, wildlife, and people of North America’s greatest river, the Mississippi.
From June 8-18th, 2023, the Mississippi River Network is hosting River Days of Action. Attend more than 30 in-person and virtual events from Headwaters to Gulf of the Mississippi River and across the country. Learn more and find an event near you at www.1mississippi.org.
Take immediate action for the river by signing the public petition to Protect and increase Funding for Farm Bill Conservation Programs.

More than 30 events are taking place as part of MRN’s River Days of Action, covering many different topics and interests. From happy hours to river clean-ups to virtual policy presentations! Here are a few “flagship” events to consider:

About the Mississippi River Network:
The Mississippi River Network is a coalition of nearly 70 organizations and over 20,000 1 Mississippi “River Citizens” dedicated to creating a healthier Mississippi River by working for the well-being of the River’s people, land, water, and wildlife from the headwaters to the Gulf. The Mississippi is truly America’s River—a critical source of water for 20 million people, a diverse and critical habitat for wildlife, the backbone of our economy and a rich part of our heritage. We want to make the River a national priority for restoration and protection. Together, we are protecting the River for future generations. Can the River count on you?
About 1 Mississippi
1 Mississippi is a national public program designed to educate, engage, and inspire residents to take action to protect the Mississippi River. By signing up as River Citizens, people show their commitment to the River and agree to take action on its behalf. Mississippi River Network members implement the program locally along the entire River. Since 2009, the program has recruited 20,000 River Citizens and inspired thousands of actions.
About River Citizens and taking action:
River Citizens are people who want to clean up and protect our country’s greatest River. Whether in armchairs or wading boots, River Citizens protect the River by speaking up on its behalf and caring for it in simple ways that make a big difference.
