Xcel Energy's hydroelectric plant on St. Anthony Falls is one of the oldest generators in their system, generating power after many decades of operation. The plant contribute clean, low-cost power as part of Xcel's diverse mix of energy sources.
While the fuel is free and hydroelectric power produces no air emissions or waste, its use is limited because of the natural hydrological conditions it requires. There also can be ecological concerns, such as the impact on fish and other wildlife. Learn how Xcel manages the St. Anthony Falls dam operations to protect the aquatic environment and improve recreational opportunities along the river.
In general, photography of any kind is NOT allowed inside the plant.
Attendees must be 12 years old or older and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
