AmeriCorps: Minnesota Green Corps

Mississippi Park Connection will hire one individual through Minnesota GreenCorps, an AmeriCorps program coordinated by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.

MN GreenCorps members improve the environment and strengthen communities, while gaining green job skills and networking with environmental professionals. Activities include: delivering environmental education; collecting, bench-marking and analyzing data; improving habitat; collaborating with community members; or mobilizing volunteers.

MN GreenCorps members receive a monthly living allowance, health insurance, student loan forbearance, and a $6,195 education award that may be used for future education expenses or qualified student loans.

Requirements:

  • A two-year Associate’s degree or completion of sophomore year in a four-year college program is required.  A four-year Bachelor’s degree with a major or significant course work related to environmental protection, energy conservation and efficiency, urban planning, or another relevant aspect of the Minnesota GreenCorps program is preferred.

  • Functional computer skills: word processing, spreadsheet, database management.

  • Ability to sit, stand, and operate a computer and telephone.

  • Light to moderate lifting, bending, stooping, pulling, kneeling, carrying, and use of hand tools.

  • The ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, such as wind, rain, high or low temperatures on challenging terrain for up to 8 hours at a time.

  • Driving, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass a driving record check administered by the MPCA.

  • The term is full-time for 11 months from September 2020 to August 2021.
