Each year the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area hosts the Big River Awards, a free event which celebrates the Big River Teacher Award winner as well as the winning students who participate in the Big River Art Contest.
The awards ceremony is a gathering of the public who support the park’s education programming. It is open to the general public, and also includes family, friends, and colleagues of the award winners.
